Being an avid player, you must want to amplify your gaming experience and be willing to do everything you can for the best gameplay ever. One possible way to do it is by connecting PS4 to a laptop HDMI so that you can enjoy the latest game interactively.
Most users wonder about playing PlayStation games on their laptops, but they don’t know the right way to connect the two devices. In this article, we will discuss two methods to allow you to enjoy your PS4 games on your laptop.
Connect PS4 With Laptop Using Capture Card
A video capture card primarily sends video streams to a laptop, desktop, or external monitor. It is one of the easiest ways that is cost-efficient and effective as well. You need to perform the given process to connect the PS4 to the laptop.
Connect the USB-A port of the capture card to your laptop using the HDMI cable. To make it work, you need to install the software that comes with the capture card. Next, navigate to the PS4 settings and turn on the file-sharing feature.
After turning on the file sharing, your PS4 will successfully detect the laptop, given that two devices are running on the same network. Now, connect the HDMI port to the HDMI port given on the PS4 and the laptop.
On your laptop, run the capture card software, and you can see the PS4 display on the laptop screen. You can purchase good-quality capture cards online or from physical electronics stores.
More About Capture Cards
Capture cards for gaming come in different shapes and sizes. External capture cards are comparatively more portable, and most are cheaper than internal cards. In addition, a good capture card can increase the quality of your gameplay and the streaming performance of your game.
To reduce the bandwidth requirement, the capture cards use a technology called Chroma Subsampling. If you experience certain issues, such as screen flickering or other display issues, a high-end capture card can fix this problem with faster output.
Some of the best capture cards include:
EVGA XR1
Elgato Game Capture HD60 X
Elgato Game Capture HD60 Pro
Elgato Game Capture 4K60 Pro MK.2
Avermedia Live Gamer Duo
Avermedia Live Gamer Portable 2 Plus
Connect PS4 With Laptop Using Professional App
If the capture card is not a solution to connect the PlayStation to your laptop, try using Remote Play. It is a professional tool that allows you to stream PlayStation games on your laptop. To establish a connection between the two devices, you will need the following:
PlayStation 4
Windows or Mac laptop
WiFi connection
USB cable or a wireless adapter
PlayStation network account
To get started, you need to download the Remote Play app on your computer. Next, before you start, make sure to update the console to the latest version. If you are using multiple PS4 consoles, you will need to set one as primary.
To set any of the PS4 consoles as primary, go to the PlayStation Network Settings and tap Account Management. Now, select Active as Primary PS4 to fix it as a primary console. After that, you will need to enable the Remote Play option.
Before you start using the Remote Play app, you need to enable it on the PS4. To do this, you need to navigate to the PlayStation Settings. Next, locate and select the Remote Play Connection Settings from the list of options.
Next, you need to turn on the PS4 from the network. By default, you will find the laptop in Rest Mode. If it is set to any other mode, you can adjust it manually by navigating to the Power Saving Settings.
Make sure to select “Enable turning on PS4 from Network” to connect the PlayStation to the laptop. Now, for immersive gameplay, you may want to tweak the gaming settings.
Navigate to the top-left corner of the Remote Play window, and you will see a feature that enables you to enhance the gameplay. Using this feature, you can improve the video resolution and increase the frame rate for better gaming.
For the best gaming output, ensure the resolution is set to 720 pixels, giving you the perfect balance of good quality while consuming lower internet bandwidth. Also, since PS4 gaming will consume a lot of battery power, tweaking these settings will help conserve power.
You will need to connect the controller to get started. Next, you will need to log in to your PlayStation network using a valid account. Remote Play will automatically scan the first PlayStation available in the network while taking you to the home screen.
When you finish connecting PS4 to laptop HDMI using the above-mentioned processes, you will find the PlayStation in the Rest Mode. Hold down the Power button on the controller to turn off PlayStation.
